Message from Joe

Greetings Fellow Kiwanians!

The essay contest is fast approaching and I would like to get some ideas for a topic from the esteemed members of our great club.  In the past, the topic choices have been something like:

If you had the favor of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and unlimited funding from them, what kind of program would you propose to better your community?

If a natural disaster were to strike our community (much like Hurricane Katrina or last year's tsunami), describe your plan to make a difference in the recovery of your community.

Which is more important to you:  honesty or ethics, and why?  (or something like that!!)

How has your world changed since the Iraq war started?  Why?   What do you think young people can do to affect these changes?

What event in history has most affected your life and why?

Please email me your thoughts and the committee and I will pick a winner.  I’ll buy five tickets for the marble draw for the person whose topic is selected so there’s some incentive to put in an idea!  J

Also, anyone who would like to help evaluate the contest, please let me know…I believe we have a former English teacher in our midst?  J

Thanks for your help!

Joe
